2023 Melbourne Hackathon (October 7th-8th, 2023)

We're organizing a hackathon the weekend of the 7th-8th, to take place at the University of Melbourne. If you're not in Melbourne, you can still participate virtually.

Schedule

Day 1: Saturday, October 7th

• 10:00am - 10:30am: Opening Talk
• 10:30am - 12:30pm: Form groups and get started
• 12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch (provided)
• 1:30pm - 4:30pm: Hacking
• 4:30pm - 5:00pm: End-of-Day Presentations
• 5:00pm - 5:00am: Venue closes (but the hacking continues)

• 10:00am - 10:15am: Day 2 Kickoff
• 10:15am - 12:30pm: Hacking
• 12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch (provided)
• 1:30pm - 4:00pm: Hacking
• 4:00pm - 5:00pm: Final Presentations and Closing

Projects

We've prepared a bunch of examples that serve as a useful starting point for diving into developmental interpretability. We've also started to write up a bunch of project ideas, which you can find here. These are meant as helpful suggestions, not requirements. Feel free to come up with your own ideas!

Requirements

• Familiarity with PyTorch is assumed.
• No prior knowledge of developmental interpretability or singular learning theory is required.
• We suggest skimming the list of project ideas.
